COLUMBIA – Formal charges have been filed against two Columbia men after multiple break-ins were reported at The Links apartments on Nov. 17.

Robert A. Hill, 32, and Johnnie L. Spain, 27,  were each charged with two counts of second-degree burglary after being arrested Monday night on suspicion of breaking into two apartments at The Links at Columbia, an apartment complex on Clark Lane.

According to the probable cause statement, police arrived at The Links, where witnesses reported seeing Spain and Hill knocking on several doors at the apartment complex and one witness had seen two men burglarize an apartment.

Spain was taken into custody at the parking lot of Ballenger Liquor. A master key for The Links was found in his possession.

Hill was later located, according the statement, and confessed to burglarizing apartments at The Links along with Spain.

Five burglaries were reported on Nov. 11, and an unknown number occurred Monday night, the Missourian previously reported.

According to Missouri Case.net, both Hill and Spain are scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Boone County Circuit Court on Dec. 16.
