COLUMBIA — A woman was arrested Saturday after an early afternoon dispute that left a Columbia man injured, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Omicka L. Cowans, 31, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of first-degree domestic assault. Her bond had yet to be set, according to the release.

The argument between Cowans and the man began earlier Saturday at a laundromat. When the two returned home to the 2700 block of E. Walnut, Cowans took a sharp object from the car door and began striking the man, according to the release. It is unclear what the sharp object was.

Cowans and the man were both taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries, according to the release. Cowans received a single cut to her hand, which required stitches. The man received cuts to the hand and face, which required surgery.
