COLUMBIA — A company that supplies auto parts is laying off about 50 workers at its plant in Columbia.
The Dana Corp. factory makes axles for Ford, General Motors and Nissan.
Dana has about 250 workers in Columbia. Plant manager Max Dunlap says employment had already been down about 100 workers from last year, with 29 layoffs announced previously.
Ohio-based Dana Holding Corp. has been hit hard by the slumping U.S. auto industry. The company announced plans in August to cut 3,000 jobs in its North American operations by the end of this year.
