PrintCOLUMBIA — First National, Columbia’s only locally owned bank, with a history that dates back 143 years, is changing its name to Landmark Bank.
Owned by the Landrum family, First National Bank & Trust Company in Columbia is Missouri’s oldest bank operating under a continuous national charter. It has nine branches in Columbia, one in Ashland and seven in southern Missouri.
The Landrum Company announced in a news release its plans to combine the company’s three banks — First National Bank & Trust Company in Columbia, First National Bank in Southern Missouri and Landmark Bank in Oklahoma and Texas — into a single organization. The combined bank will be called Landmark Bank and be headquartered in Columbia. The combination is scheduled for completion in the spring.
According to Sabrina McDonnell, president of First National Bank in Columbia, the bank will remain under the ownership of Mark Landrum, who has led the family-owned banks since the 1970s.
In the early 1900s, the Landrum family opened banks throughout southern Oklahoma and northcentral Texas. Because First National banks already existed in some locations, those banks operated under different names. By 1997, all were united under Landmark Bank — except First National in Missouri.
First National Bank & Trust, originally called Exchange National Bank, was purchased by Columbia’s Landrum family in 1964. In 1971, the name officially changed to First National Bank & Trust.
Landrum Company headquarters will remain in Columbia to oversee banks in more than 30 locations in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

I do believe you left out the main hero of the history of this story. Roy Landrum was the pillar of these banks when The Bank of Mountain View switched to First National Bank it felt like being invaded by a foriegn country. Mountian View, MO was where you could walk into the Bank and ask to see Uncle Roy(Mr.Landrum) that was his known name at the coffee shop across the street from the bank. This bank is solid and has been through the tests of time recessions and depressions, you can feel safe knowing the Landrums have made it a safe haven for all your needs. This is a bank that don't make risky loans so in short no bailouts needed just honesty on Main Street makes a good bank.
