Man arrested on charges of child molestation

COLUMBIA — A Mexico, Mo., man was arrested in Columbia on Thursday on charges of first-degree child molestation.

Keith R. Nash, 57, was at a family gathering at 1201 Paquin Towers when another adult observed him engaging in inappropriate physical contact with a 13-year-old female, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Nash was recently acquainted with the victim through family contacts, according to the release. When the victim resisted the suspect's actions, he stopped. After observing Nash's actions, the adult witness confronted him and contacted police.

According to the release, the suspect was located at the scene and arrested. The victim was not injured.
