COLUMBIA — A fire on Elleta Boulevard on Sunday night that caused an estimated $50,000 to $75,000 in damage was intentionally set, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department.
No arrests had been made as of 9:30 a.m. Monday, but the Columbia Police Department's Major Crimes Unit and the Fire Department are continuing the investigation.

The fire department was called to a duplex at 1302 Elleta Blvd. at 9:40 p.m. Sunday to put out the fire. The occupant, Carolyn Reynolds, said that after returning home from visiting a friend she opened her door and was met by smoke and heat, the release stated.
The flames were located in an inside bedroom and were extinguished in 10 minutes. Captain Eric Hartman of the Columbia Fire Department said that 18 firefighters, four police officers and one detective were on the scene. They continued gathering evidence until 3:15 a.m., according to Hartman.
Hartman said the front side of the duplex was damaged beyond repair, and that the other side was moderately damaged.
There were no injuries, and the home, which is owned by the Columbia Housing Authority, had working smoke detectors, the release said.
Hartman said that Reynolds is currently staying with family.
