KANSAS CITY — The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority says a stray bullet flew through one of its buses, missing passengers but causing some minor injuries.
The authority's general manager, Mark E. Huffer, says the shots were not intentionally fired at the bus Tuesday afternoon.
About 15 people were on board. Police say glass struck two riders, causing minor injuries.
Walter Wilson says he was on the bus and leaned down to pick up his 7-month-old daughter, Angel, just as the bullet flew past him. He said it would have hit him in the forehead if he had been sitting up.
Transportation Commissioner Donovan Mouton says the shooting almost added to the city's spiraling homicide rate and underscores a troubling issue for residents.
