COLUMBIA — A man took two purses in an armed robbery Wednesday night at the intersection of Fifth and Rollins streets, a Columbia Police Department news release said.

At 9:21 p.m., the suspect approached three women, all between the ages of 19 and 20, while they were getting in a vehicle, according to the release. After producing a handgun, he took two purses from them and ran away from the scene. No one was injured.

Police are still seeking a suspect after a search by officers and a K9 unit didn't locate him, the release said. The suspect was described as being about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, in his early 20s with a medium build.
