City, Fire District to review territorial agreement talking points

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 | 7:57 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — As the January deadline to renegotiate a territorial agreement between the city and the Boone County Fire Protection District approaches, City Manager Bill Watkins has assembled a draft of talking points.

The points will be addressed at the next meeting between the two groups, scheduled for Wednesday.

The draft, sent to Fire Protection District and Columbia Fire Department representatives Tuesday afternoon, calls for joint training between the Fire Department and the fire district as well as a uniform system to report response times.

Watkins' plan also calls for regular meetings between the chiefs of both the Fire Department and the fire district.

The two agencies will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Daniel Boone City Building, 701 E. Broadway, in the fifth-floor conference room.
