COLUMBIA — Two were arrested Tuesday evening after a search warrant was served at a Garth Avenue Residence, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
Barry Lawson, 38, and Teresa Jones, 41, were arrested at about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday at 1007 N. Garth Ave. Lawson was arrested after being found in possession of a handgun and cocaine at the front of the residence while Jones was arrested for having an outstanding municipal warrant for assault, the release stated.
A loose pit bull at the residence was shot and killed by police after it confronted police, according to the release. The dog was disposed of by animal control.
No illegal contraband was found at the residence, the release stated, and paramedics were called to the scene to check the vital signs of a 2-year-old at the residence. No persons were injured in the investigation, which is still underway.
