COLUMBIA — A 16-year-old was the victim of a stabbing in Columbia on Thursday night, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
At around 9 p.m., Columbia police officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance in the 2400 block of West Broadway, the release said.
When officers arrived, they found the victim with two stab wounds to her torso area, the release said. Police say the victim was transported to a local hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
The release identified the suspect in the incident as Matthew Bryson Prince, 20. He is described as 5’11” and 140 pounds, and police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Columbia police issued a warrant for Bryson's arrest this afternoon for 2nd Degree Assault with a bond set at $50,000.
The disturbance began over a disagreement over the purchase of some fast food that continued to the location of the incident, the release said.
The Police Department is asking anyone aware of Prince’s whereabouts to contact the department or CrimeStoppers.
