KANSAS CITY — Kansas City might outlaw feeding Canada geese in city parks, a practice that officials say results in a bigger buildup of goose poop on sidewalks and trails.
A proposed ordinance introduced Thursday sets a maximum $500 fine and a jail sentence of up to six months for feeding geese that crowd into parks. Chunks of bread and other treats entice more of the big birds to stay around for more, which creates an even worse mess.
Parks officials say rain washes the goose droppings into adjacent creeks, which could affect water quality. But park users complain that so much of the gooey, green goose poop coats walkways that it's unpleasant — and downright risky — to go for a walk.
Officials say that if the ordinance is enacted, the primary targets will be frequent goose-feeders who have continued the practice after being asked to stop.

Well hell if they have too many geese then why not just shoot then, dress them out and cook them up to help feed families in need.
Goose is very good once cooked and you cook them just like a turkey.
No need to impose fines and jail time just take the advantage of "mana from heaven" IMHO.
Once again, KCMO is focused on the wrong sh!t -- literally and figuratively. The council should be concentrating on getting the city's sewer system in compliance with EPA regs, instead of worrying about poop on the sidewalks of Loose Park, etc.
Concerns for "Loose Poop Park" may be justified, but there may be better ways to address this "problem" than creating cash flow for the judicial system.

Make it a crime to be an undocumented goose in the U.S. and have the INS deport them all.
Keep it legal to feed geese bread and treats as long as the food has been drenched in pepto-bismol. (The bismuth in this medicine may cause severe constipation.)
Let nature run it's cost, but criminalize casino gambling.
