PrintCOLUMBIA — Three to five gunshots were fired Friday night at a gas station, but no one was injured, Columbia police said.
According to a news release from the Columbia Police Department, a 20-year-old man was fueling his car at a Fastlane convenience store, 2116 Paris Road, at about 9:45 p.m. Friday when the suspect approached and fired three to five times. The victim's car was hit twice and a gas pump was hit once.
The driver and his passenger, a 19-year-old man, drove away uninjured.
According to the release, the shooter was likely on foot and approached from the rear of the store. The victims told police they did not see the shooter.
The incident does not appear to be an attempted robbery, but the motive remains unknown, according to the release.
Police Sgt. Tim Moriarity said the department has some information but has been unable to locate the suspect. There is no description of the shooter, but police do have a vehicle description, he said. No further information was available.
