COLUMBIA — A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and a woman were injured Tuesday morning as they stood outside their parked vehicles on the shoulder of Interstate 70 near Columbia.

The patrol said 70-year-old Beverly Lawrence of Belleville, Ill., lost control of her vehicle on an icy stretch of the interstate and rammed into a concrete wall and the trooper's patrol car.

Her vehicle continued to skid on the shoulder, hitting 41-year-old Laura Fincher of Independence and 31-year-old trooper Patrick Sublette.

The patrol said Fincher was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. Sublette suffered minor injuries and said he would seek medical treatment on his own.
