COLUMBIA — Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a robbery at an adult store early Thursday morning.
Columbia police responded at 6:43 a.m. Thursday to Venus Adult Megastore, 1010 N. Old 63, after a clerk at the store reported an armed robbery, according to a Police Department news release.
After browsing the store, the suspect paid for some videos with cash. When the clerk opened the cash register, the suspect pulled a handgun from his jacket and demanded the money in the drawer, according to the release. The clerk handed over the money, and the suspect left on foot in an unknown direction.
The clerk told police he had seen the suspect's ID — including a last name of "Grayson" — when the suspect opened his wallet to pay. The police then checked their records for that last name and found a man named James Grayson, living on Norma Court, who matched the description of the suspect given by the clerk, according to the release.
When police arrived at the Norma Court home, they arrested James L. Grayson, 23, on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Bond has yet to be set, according to the release.
