The Water Patrol called off its recovery effort at 3:25 p.m. Friday and will likely resume the search for Forget on Saturday morning, communications operator Latrise Wilson said.

Forget, a sophomore at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., was traveling east on I-70 with two others when their car crashed on the bridge. After getting out to inspect the damage, Forget was nearly struck by a tractor-trailer. He is believed to have fallen from the bridge while trying to avoid the truck.
