COLUMBIA — The estranged wife of a Columbia man who was shot and killed in 2004 was arrested Friday in Galveston, Texas, and charged with his first-degree murder.
Tausha L. Fields, 33, of Dickinson, Texas, was taken into custody Friday by Galveston County, Texas, deputies, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Family members of Mitchell Wayne Kemp first reported him missing in 2004, the release stated. An investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Department led to the discovery of his skeletal remains Aug. 9on Deer Park Road near Three Creeks Conservation Area, according to Missourian archives.
The former owner of the property and ex-husband of Fields, Gregory Warren Morton, 40, formerly of Harrisburg, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder on Aug. 29, according to the archives.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, Fields was being held on a $1 million cash-only bond and was awaiting extradition to Boone County.
