COLUMBIA — Columbia resident Matthew Prince, 20, was arrested at around 4 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of second-degree assault, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

The arrest occurred on the 2200 block of Warwick Street, the release said. Officers had been searching for Prince since a Dec. 11 stabbing. He was taken into custody Tuesday without incident. He will be held on a $50,000 cash-only bond in the Boone County Jail, according to the release.

On Dec. 11, police officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance at 2401 W. Broadway and found a 16-year-old female victim who had been stabbed twice in the torso. Officers learned the injuries resulted from an argument over the purchase of fast food. Witnesses identified Prince as a suspect in the incident.
