MARIONVILLE — A southwest Missouri police officer wounded during a shootout after a highway crash has sued the gunman’s estate for unspecified damages.
Marionville Officer Andy Clark’s lawsuit names Greene County Public Administrator Carolyn Little, the de facto representative of Jesse Miller’s estate. Clark killed Miller when the suspect opened fire after a traffic crash involving Miller’s SUV.
Miller shot and killed a 55-year-old man who stopped to offer help after the March 28 crash. When Miller started shooting at Clark, the wounded officer shot and killed him.
In a Thursday filing, Clark says Miller “unlawfully, maliciously, and without any provocation or justification” shot him with a shotgun. Rhonda Clark, the officer’s wife, also is listed as a plaintiff. The lawsuit says she’s experienced loss of companionship because of the shooting.
