PrintCOLUMBIA — A Columbia man, wanted by the FBI, was arrested on a federal warrant Tuesday night in connection with a narcotics investigation in Kansas City.
At approximately 8:21 p.m., the Boone County Sheriff's Department attempted to serve the warrant to Rodney Hughes, 45, at the Woodstock Estates Mobile Home Park, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
Hughes' wife, Paula Hughes, refused to let officers search the home, denying Hughes was there and alleging he was in Illinois on business, the release stated. As officers were leaving the residence, they saw a vehicle registered to the Hughes' driving quickly away from the mobile home park, according to the release.
The vehicle was stopped nearby and Hughes was identified as the driver and taken into custody, according to the release, and Paula Hughes was identified as the passenger and was also taken into custody.
As of Wednesday morning, Hughes was being held at the Boone County Jail for the federal warrant, which does not have a bond. Hughes also has a Boone County warrant for failure to appear, which had a bond set at $500, according to the release.
Paula Hughes was arrested on felony charges of hindering prosecution and later posted $4,5000 bail, the release stated.
