COLUMBIA — Officers arrested Columbia resident Coty Thomas Galbreath in his home on Wednesday in connection with a shooting that occurred on Sunday, a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.
A 16-year-old man was injured in the shooting early Sunday morning on the 1400 block of Boone Industrial Boulevard. The victim and several other people were riding in a car when a person in a second car drove up and shot into the victim's vehicle.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. The other passengers in the car were unharmed.
Galbreath was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and endangering the welfare of a child, the release said. His bond was set at $500,000.

Good to hear that they got somebody but the sad part is the justice system will just kick them back onto the street in a short amount of time due to our judges in the judicial system have no real guts to throw maximum sentences at these types of offenders.
We really need to go back to these days here when one man was the law in the mid western territory:

Only due to our justice system anymore is a failure.
A $500,000 bond! That's exactly the amount some tased guy is looking to extort from our fair city. Could this just be a "pass through?"
No need to go back to the "days of the old west", Chuck. The CIT can handle all of our criminal problems now...
The county, or rather the state does not get a dime of the $500,000.00 unless the defendant does not show up, and his Bail Bondsman (if he has one) can not find him. And you can bet that the Bail Bondsman is not going to let that happen, if he or she can help it.
Rick.
Well i can say for sure that he had no other chioce seeing how coty is almost part of my family. so people saying that he needs this or that, no you have no right you were not there what alot more people don't know is that there is alot of history to this story.
If you want people to "understand" why "Officers arrested Columbia resident Coty Thomas Galbreath in his home on Wednesday in connection with a shooting..." then please do tell. Otherwise people will fill in the blanks, however they so choose.
You are not the "thought police" but you infer that there's information which may shed some light on the subject. Commenting on people having "no right" to be concerned about shootings in this town is asinine.
The fact that Coty is almost "part of your family" means nothing to me, sans your part of the story.
