Man sought in north Columbia stabbing

COLUMBIA — Police are seeking a man after a 22-year-old Columbia woman was stabbed Wednesday evening outside her home on Northland Drive, a Columbia Police Department news release states.

According to the release, the woman was approached by the man, who then demanded cash and jewelry. The woman gave the man an undisclosed item and then was stabbed with a knife, after which the man fled the scene, the release states.

The woman was taken to University Hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound, the release states.

The canine unit of the Missouri Highway Patrol was brought in to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.

Police ask that anyone with information submit tips on the Crimestoppers Web site.
