COLUMBIA — Police are seeking two men in connection with an attempted home invasion robbery that occurred Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of Hickam Drive, a news release from the Columbia Police Department stated.
After investigating the attempted robbery, police also found about one pound of marijuana in the backyard of the victim's home, a second release stated.
According to the release, at 10:47 a.m. the victim, a 42-year-old man, told police that while inside his home, two men with guns broke through his back door and then bound him with duct tape. The men then ransacked his home looking for money during which one of the men kicked the victim in the face resulting in a cut, the release stated. The men then fled the home.
Police attempted to track the men with a dog but the dog instead found approximately one pound of marijuana buried in the backyard, the release stated.
In a later release at 3:15 p.m., a search warrant was obtained and the house was searched. A small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized inside the house and from a vehicle on the property.
Investigators continue to work on identifying the owners of the marijuana and the intruders.
