Police seek two who dropped cocaine while fleeing, report says

COLUMBIA — Police are seeking two men who threw a baggy containing about one ounce of powder cocaine from their vehicle while fleeing from officers who attempted to pull them over Wednesday afternoon, a Columbia Police Department news release states.

At about 3:50 p.m., detectives with the narcotics and street crimes units saw the men conduct what appeared to be "drug activity" in their car, the release states. The detectives then attempted to stop the car. The driver at first complied but then fled from officers, the release states.

While fleeing from officers, the men threw a small bag containing about one ounce of cocaine from the car near the intersection of Jackson and Mikel streets, the release states. The drugs were recovered later by officers assisting in the chase.

The men then continued down Jackson Street where they jumped out of the car and eluded officers on foot, the release states.

The driver of the car is described as a 5-feet, 10-inches black male with a slender build weighing 170 pounds and wearing blue jeans, a brown hooded jacket. Police estimate him to be about 30 years old.

The passenger is described as a 6-foot tall with a large build weighing 200 pounds and wearing brown jeans and a black jacket. Police estimate him to be 25 to 30 years old.
