Search warrant leads police to recover TV stolen in 2007

COLUMBIA — Police recovered a flat-screen TV reported stolen in October 2007 and arrested a man Friday afternoon while serving a search warrant on the man's home in north Columbia, according to a Police Department news release.

Lionel I. Simms, 25, of 2939 Leeway Drive, was arrested on suspicion of felony receiving of stolen property, the release states. As of 6:30 p.m. Friday, Simms was being held at the Boone County Jail on a $4,500 bond.

At about 3:50 p.m, officers searched Simms home after an investigation by the Major Crimes Unit led police to believe it contained stolen property, the release states.

During the search, police found a 42-inch flat-screen TV that was reported stolen during a reported burglary in October 2007, the release states.
