Rifle shots fired at Gatehouse Apartments early Saturday

Police are seeking two men who were reportedly shooting rifles across the courtyard at Gatehouse Apartments early Saturday afternoon, a Columbia Police Department news release stated.

At about 12:01 p.m., the release stated, police received multiple reports that the two men fired four to five shots at another person in the apartment complex, which is located at 2401 W. Broadway. Upon arrival, officers found four spent .380 rifle shells and a small amount of blood on a child’s bicycle on the third floor of apartment building 600, the release stated. Police searched each apartment in the building and did not find anyone injured.

Area hospitals were checked for any patients who had been admitted with gunshot wounds, but none were found, the release stated.
