JEFFERSON CITY — Incoming attorney general Chris Koster has picked a western Missouri prosecutor and a former member of Gov. Matt Blunt's Cabinet for top staff positions.

Koster said Tuesday that Lafayette County Prosecutor Page Bellamy will head the public safety division of the attorney general's office. Both men are Democrats.

Doug Ommen is Koster's choice to head the consumer protection division — a job he once held under outgoing Attorney General Jay Nixon. Most recently he served as insurance department director under Republican Gov. Matt Blunt.

Ommen was also the top securities regulator in the secretary of state's office when Blunt held that position.
