PrintJEFFERSON CITY — Tens of thousands of women could qualify for new health services being offered by the state of Missouri.
The program launched Wednesday could provide pelvic exams, cancer screenings and family planning services to an estimated 83,000 women.
To qualify, women must earn no more than 185 percent of the federal poverty level. That's $19,240 for an individual or $32,560 for a family of three.
The program was created by a 2007 law that revamped Missouri's Medicaid program as Mo HealthNet and placed a greater emphasis on preventive health care.
The woman's initiative could not begin until the state received clearance from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
