COLUMBIA — A 19-year-old Warrensburg woman was arrested on suspicion of assault after an accident early Friday morning left two people injured, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

According to police, Mayme Woodworth of Warrensburg was turning west onto Nifong Boulevard from Peachtree Drive when her vehicle collided with a vehicle traveling east on Nifong. The driver of that vehicle, 23-year-old Lindsay Smith of Columbia, was taken to a hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Woodworth's passenger, 18-year-old Monae Deberry of Warrensburg, also received nonlife-threatening injuries from the accident.

All were wearing seat belts, according to the release.

Woodworth, whom police think was intoxicated at the time of the accident, was arrested on suspicion of failure to yield and two counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.
