Nixon names DNR director

JEFFERSON CITY — Incoming Gov. Jay Nixon has chosen a Yale Law School associate dean as the director of the Department of Natural Resources.

Mark Templeton will lead Nixon's initiatives to expand the production of alternative energy in Missouri.

He also will manage agencies and programs focused on preserving and improving the state's natural and cultural resources.

Templeton is from Olivette. He worked on environmental and sustainability strategies for consulting firm McKinsey & Co. from 2001 to 2005.

Templeton is associate dean and chief operating officer of Yale Law School.

Nixon takes office on Monday. His Cabinet nominees must be confirmed by legislators.
