KANSAS CITY — Police are hoping for fresh tips in the case of a Kansas City mother who has been missing for more than a week.
A larger search of the wooded area near the home of 35-year-old Renee Pernice turned up no new evidence Monday. Police and dozens of volunteers spent hours combing through the woods, but left without being any closer to knowing Pernice's whereabouts.
Kansas City police spokesman Darin Snapp said Tuesday that foul play is still suspected in the woman's Jan. 2 disappearance.
Family members have told police that Pernice was close to her children and wouldn't leave them. Investigators also found her cell phone several miles from her home in an area she wasn't known to frequent.
