Many Americans express disappointment with the state of affairs in Washington. Particular concerns are gridlock caused by extreme views on either side of the political aisle and seeming indifference of elected officials to views of their constituents. For those who share that disappointment there’s good news. The good news is the Modern Whig Party.
Yes, the Whigs are back. Rising like a Phoenix from the ashes of history the Modern Whig Party is alive once again, on the move and growing. As earlier Whigs foundered in the dense political fog prior to the Civil War, Modern Whigs are growing in the turbulent wake of another war — the current one in Iraq and Afghanistan. Veterans of that war are primary motivators in developing and expanding the Modern Whig Party.
Formulating the party platform is a work in progress with an online forum available to those wishing to provide input. True to their heritage, Modern Whigs seek workable solutions based on common ground. However, they do not shrink from controversial issues. Major issues under consideration include fiscal responsibility, national security, environmental protection, immigration, church/state separation, gay rights, science and technology. A Missouri chapter is up and running.
