Body found in rubble of shed fire

The Columbia Fire Department extinguished a fire at 4200 Rock Quarry Road that destroyed a shed behind a home. The fire was reported at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators later discovered a body in the rubble of the shed.

COLUMBIA — Fire investigators discovered a body in the rubble of a shed destroyed by fire Tuesday morning at 4200 Rock Quarry Road. The person has not been identified.

The fire was reported at 3:05 a.m.  Fire crews arrived and discovered a shed behind a home fully engulfed in flames and quickly extinguished the fire. The body was discovered later.

Carolyn Matthews, the owner of the property, was at home at the time, but not directly affected by the fire in the shed.

Investigators from the Columbia Fire Department, the Columbia Police Department, and the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office are working at the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The cause of the fire and the cause of death remain under investigation.

I can't grasp how someone could make a supposedly funny comment like that when people who are mourning the loss of a friend and family member may well visit this site.
My heart goes out to all who were touched by this sad event.
