COLUMBIA — Columbia police arrested a man Thursday who had been under investigation after police witnessed him make a drug transaction, a Columbia Police Department news release said.

At about 4:49 p.m. Thursday, police blocked Stefan Michael Tate, 25, from leaving a parking lot on Paris Road. Tate had been the focus of an ongoing investigation by the Columbia Police Department's Narcotics and Street Crimes units and had been identified as being involved in the sale of crack cocaine around Columbia.

Another individual was apprehended but later released. Police also seized 3.5 grams of crack cocaine and $200 cash, according to the release.

Tate is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
