SPRINGFIELD — Federal charges have been filed against a former fitness trainer in Springfield accused of secretly videotaping female athletes nude.

Former St. John's Health Systems trainer Scott Johnson was arraigned Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Springfield on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of children.

He also faces charges in Greene County Circuit Court, where he pleaded not guilty last month to 17 counts of second-degree invasion of privacy.

Prosecutors allege he taped four female athletes after persuading them to weigh themselves naked. Three of the four alleged victims were reportedly underage in portions of the footage.

Under federal statutes, each of the alleged violations carries a 15-year mandatory minimum prison sentence.
