COLUMBIA — A 19-year-old woman was robbed at 10 p.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of Unity Drive, said Sgt. Roger Allen of the Columbia Police Department.
A man, whom the victim had met just before the robbery, approached her with a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The victim tried to stall, but the suspect snatched her purse and ran away, Allen said.
Police are still searching for a suspect in the incident. The man was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, of medium build and in his mid 20s, Allen said. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a tan jacket with a dark hooded sweatshirt and colored baggy jeans.
