PrintThe Boone County Fire Protection District began preliminary discussions on how to select a new fire chief on Thursday.
Board member Shelly Dometrorch presented proposals from four search firms specializing in finding and interviewing potential fire chiefs. The board is willing to spend between $9,500 and $30,000 on a search firm. The fire district’s annual budget is approximately $3.4 million, according to a fire district fact sheet.

Why does this sound exactly like City Council and what they did?

Why not 0 and $30k, what is wrong with spending less than $9500.
What is wrong with hiring from with in should be the real question here.
I don't think internal candidates have been barred from applying. Do you have information to the contrary?
