BRANSON — A Walmart Supercenter in Branson has reopened after it was evacuated because its roof was sagging under the weight of snow and ice.
In a news release, the city said the store was reopened at 7 a.m. Friday, less than 24 hours after Branson officials and the city's fire department closed the business as a precaution.
A structural engineer from the Walmart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., inspected the roof Thursday night and found no damage. The engineer said the structure flexed as it was designed to do and the trusses did not exceed their tolerance levels.
Workers cleared the roof of a heavy accumulation of snow and ice that fell over several days.
