Aurora boy killed in flatbed trailer accident

EUDORA — A southwest Missouri boy is dead after he slipped and fell while trying to jump onto a flatbed trailer that was being pulled by a truck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the trailer ran over 7-year-old Darren Mead of Aurora.

The boy was flown to a Springfield hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident happened Friday afternoon on a Polk County farm west of Eudora as the truck was hauling a car. The boy was a first-grader at an Aurora elementary school, which was not in session Friday because of snow-covered roads in the district.

A patrol trooper said the boy was with an aunt while his parents were in Springfield.

I feel sorry for those who sit in judgment. There's only one THRONE,custom made, and you were not the model.Darren was a fun loving, happy, and mischievous little boy.His time on earth was short, but perhaps GOD wanted a ray of sunshine for HIS winter bouquet. He was my nephew, and may my family be blessed with peace.Thank you all for your prayers and support.
