COLUMBIA – The Hickman girls basketball team defeated Westport on its home court Friday night, with a final score of 53-22.  The girls now have a season record of 8-9.

Senior forward Chasity Prince led Hickman with 16 points and was able to pull down 12 rebounds. Senior Nicole Schulz followed with 9 points and sophomores Sarah Hall and Aqua Corpening both contributed 8 points.

Hickman started the game off slow and by the end of the first quarter, Westport only trailed behind by 6 points. Hickman began to pick it up the next quarter and ended the half leading 29-12.

“In the first half we didn’t play to our fullest potential,” Prince said. “We didn’t do the best we could’ve at all.”

The second half looked a lot better for Hickman.  They played with more force, picking it up both offensively and defensively. They went on to win 53-22.

“We stepped up intensity a lot and played better defense,” said Prince.  “We’ve been working a lot on offensive rebounding in practice, which we did well tonight.”
