More food products recalled

The following recalls have been announced:

 

Eillien's Candies Inc. of Green Bay, Wis., is recalling a variety of peanut candy products, because they could be contaminated with salmonella. This is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. No illness has been reported. The candies were sold at drug, convenience, grocery and other stores around the country. The recalled products all have sell-by dates prior to Jan. 31, 2010. Details: by phone at: 920-336-7549.

Walgreen Co. of Deerfield, Ill., is recalling four types of candy, because they could be contaminated with salmonella. No illness has been reported. Details: by phone at 847-315-2755.

The Kroger Co. of Cincinnati is select recalling butter cookies and cakes, because they could be contaminated with salmonella. No illness has been reported.

The recalled desserts were sold at the following stores in 31 states: Kroger, Gerbes, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, Fry's, King Soopers, Smith's, Dillons, QFC, City Market, Foods Co., Jay C, Scott's, Owen's, Baker's, Hilander and Pay Less. Details: by phone at 800-632-6900

The recall also includes all sizes of private selection chocolate trio single-layer and double-layer iced cakes, including whole, half and packaged slices.

Werner Gourmet Meat Snacks Inc. of Tillamook, Ore., is recalling a variety of trail mixes and peanut products because they could be contaminated with salmonella. No illness has been reported.

The recalled snacks were available at stores in Missouri, Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Arizona, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, Arkansas, Nevada, Texas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Minnesota and Alabama. Details: by phone at 800-459-6420.
