PrintThe Rock Bridge boys basketball team remains undefeated after capturing its 19th victory with a 66-29 win against Jefferson City on Tuesday night.
During Rock Bridge’s win against rival Hickman last week, coach Jim Scanlon admitted his team didn’t play at top performance.
“We looked lethargic,” Scanlon said. “We didn’t look like ourselves. Tonight we did.”
The Bruins started the game strong. Senior guard Skylar Tolson scored eight points in a 30-second span, along with two steals and an assist. Senior forward Jordan Dressler scored 14 points in the first quarter and was taken out in the second quarter with the game securely in control.
Rock Bridge’s fast-paced offense and intense defense held the Jays (3-16) to 12 points in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Bruins continued to dominate offensively. Senior forward Briton Rudd came from off the bench to score 13 consecutive Rock Bridge points, making it 58-27.
The Bruins allowed only two points in the fourth quarter.
When asked how his team will prepare for Friday’s meeting against Raytown South and the upcoming Class 5 District Tournament, Dressler responded “Just take it one game at a time.”
“It's good tonight, but we move on and keep practicing for Friday,” Scanlon said.
