Junior guard Whitney Widaman reached a milestone for the Columbia College women's basketball team Thursday night in the Cougars' 78-65 victory over over host Hannibal La-Grange.
Widaman, a Mexico native, scored her 1,000 career point with Columbia College. Widaman, who led all scorers with 25, needed 18 points entering the game to break the mark. Widaman moves into sixth place overall on the Cougars scoring list.
The Cougars (No. 16 in the NAIA at 21-2, 8-1 in American Midwest Conference play) pulled away in the second half, hitting five three-pointers and blocking 11 shots.
Rachel Oswald had 17 points and 9 rebounds for the Cougars. Fiona Sparks added 12 points, and Whitney Davis had 12 points and 8 assists. Forward Brittany Taylor had seven blocks.
