JEFFERSON CITY — A Jefferson City man charged with raping his teenage daughter told police he was drunk and thought he had gone to bed with his wife.

Court documents said the 38-year-old man realized he'd had sex with his 13-year-old daughter upon awakening. He said he had drank too much while watching Super Bowl coverage Sunday.

The Associated Press is withholding his name to protect the identity of his daughter, an alleged sexual assault victim.

Authorities say the man was charged with first-degree statutory rape after he turned himself into police Monday afternoon. Court records say the man told the arresting officer, "I did it."
