PrintCOLUMBIA - The Columbia School Board interviewed Skip Deming as the sixth superintendent candidate during an executive session of the board meeting Thursday night.
“I am honored and privileged to be considered at this time,” said Deming, a previous co-interim chief for Columbia Public School District. However, he said, the process is still ongoing.

Deming has traveled since his retirement and has “found no place better than Columbia,” he said.
Deming said the district is a big part of that. To him, the district is like a “second family.”
School Board member Karla DeSpain said Wednesday the board had yet to vote on the issue and that none of the other five candidates had been disqualified.
"An additional candidate came forward, and we felt incumbent on ourselves to interview all interested parties," DeSpain said.
The board would not comment on Deming or the other candidates at the meeting. A news release about the ongoing selection process will be sent Friday, according to Assistant Superintendent Lynn Barnett.
