Terrell Brown, 36, was riding a bicycle northbound on Paris Road at about 9 p.m. Thursday night and attempted to make a left turn onto Gordon Street when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Meghan McCollum, 24, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
Brown was attempting to turn when McCollum, who was traveling southbound, struck him. Brown suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. McCollum was not injured.
According to the news release, Brown was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Police cited Brown for failing to drive on the right half of the road and riding an unlicensed bicycle without lights.

A cyclist without lights, riding on the wrong side of the road, and intoxicated, gets hit. Yet how many times will my "friends" send me this helpful article to alert me to the dangers of cycling every day to work, following all the rules of the road, with lights AND a helmet, and never intoxicated! I have more in common with most motorists than I do with this cyclist.
