COLUMBIA — Two Columbia residents were found dead of what appears to be a drug overdose at a house on Alfalfa Drive on Friday night, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The victims are a man, 30, and a woman, 28, the release said. Their identities are being withheld until authorities can notify the next of kin.
Friends of the woman found the bodies in the house, which is about five miles north of the intersection of U.S. 63 and Interstate 70, around 10:30 p.m Friday, the release stated.
The victims were not residents of the house where they were found, and the owner was not home when the bodies were discovered, the release said. Both victims were given consensual access to the home and were living there until they could find another place of residence, said Maj. Tom Reddin of the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Autopsies will be performed Monday at the Boone County Medical Examiner's office to determine cause and approximate time of death, Reddin said.
