NAACP 100th anniversary events in Columbia

COLUMBIA — The MU Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center is hosting a weeklong celebration titled “The Dream Lives On: Celebrating 100 Years of African-American Values" to commemorate the NAACP's 100th anniversary. All events will take place at the Black Culture Center at 813 Virginia Ave. Activities include:

Tues, Feb. 10: “100 Years of Change;" time TBA

Wednesday, Feb. 11: “100 Years of Voice,” 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 12: “100 Years of Blood, Sweat and Tears,” all day

Friday, Feb. 13: “100 Years of Love” Dating Game, 7 to 9 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 14: “100 Years of Community Empowerment," time TBA

The local chapter of the NAACP is also hosting a party Thursday evening at Second Baptist Church, 407 E. Broadway. Festivities include birthday cake and a watch party for the Image Awards.
