BOONVILLE — Director Tim Nadeau said that in creating this year's Love Notes, he and music director Janelle Viertel decided to go back to the annual musical revue's basic premise: "A Valentine's Day celebration for the community," Nadeau said. "It's a gift." This is the revue's eighth year.
“Every year the theme is different,” Nadeau said. This year's theme is "The Many Facets of Love." It will feature songs about romantic love and its many stages, such as puppy love, teenage crush, forbidden love and lost love, along with songs that look into love among friends, family, God and country. Nadeau interweaves the songs so they flow in a storytelling manner.
Viertel said she tries not to repeat songs from year to year. Two new this year are “Wake Up, Little Suzie” and “America the Beautiful.” Songs from the 2008 movie "Mamma Mia!" will also be featured.
“We are trying keep things current,” Viertel said.
Although the revue has three showings, it has often been sold out. “It’s all about the music," Nadeau said. "Each performance usually attracts a full house.”
“It’s a good idea for people to get tickets early,” Viertel said.
Past performers and first-time performers will share the stage with a band, which also has many returning members. Duets and solos will be included for further variety.
"A lot of people come every year, some more than once," Viertel said. "It’s just a fun show."
