COLUMBIA — A driver traveling northbound on U.S. 63 on Wednesday night was thrown from his vehicle after attempting to exit at Stadium Boulevard. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Shane A. Calahan, 23, was driving in the passing lane of the highway when he made a sharp turn at the Stadium Boulevard exit, according to a news release. He lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn multiple times.

Calahan was taken to a hospital to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. Columbia police are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor.
